I am a Jewish artist born in Israel, currently practising in Naarm (Melbourne) on unceded Boonwurrung lands of the Kulin Nation. I am a researcher, printmaker, photographer, film maker and painter. My practises are always with the intention of learning and investigating. As an artist living with a rich ancestry, I hold often misunderstood identities. I use my art as a language to respond through experimental, research-based processes, exploring marginalisation, intersectionality, culture, and identity. Through my processes I tend to be drawn to elements of storytelling and documentation to create what is visually striking and intellectually stimulating. I work conscious of the materials used, as they are typically archival and collected to translate a narrative or bond between material and meaning. I love to learn about myself through others and shared experiences. My work explores traditional and contemporary Jewish life through my own artistic self-expression while simultaneously serving as a response to antisemitism and the world.
(heb. to show honour and gratitude)
As an uninvited guest, I would like to acknowledge the custodians of this land on which I live and practise on. I honour the land, waters and spirit and show my gratitude to the Boonwurrung people of the Kulin Nation, who have nurtured and lived here for 80,000 years and more to come.
I acknowledge the immeasurable violence and loss at the hands of colonisation. Sovereignty has never been ceded.
